AbstractThe article attempts to examine the theology of John B. Cobb Jr. and to demonstrate that his approach to Buddhism-Christian dialogue is closely related to his concern for social justice. It argues that Cobb's theology, including his understanding of salvation and his transformist approach to theology can be understood as a creative transformation of the Wesleyan theological tradition. It concludes that inter-religious dialogue oriented to social justice may help Christians in East Asia to develop a more mature approach to their own religious traditions.
