Abstract Dunhuang was under the Tibetan domination in the Mid - Tang period . The Tibetan rulers also believed in Buddhism and the construction of grottoes went on. Besides the tradi- tional Buddhist themes, Tantric Buddhism and auspicioune images of Buddhas became new favorite subjects for paintings. Under the Early and Middle Tang influence , the murals of Dunhuang developed their different styles in the period of Tibetan Domination |
