The inscription of Khotanese princes written on the wall of Cave 244 Mogao Grottoes had known to the academic circle in 1980s and it was instantly become the important referent material for the study of the genealogical table of the imperial family of Khotan Kingdom in the Five Dynasties and the early period of the Song Dynasty. It is a pity that blurred out painting itself had caused much indistinguishable ant thus there are some differences in interpretations to this inscription by scholars and further on produce less academic value to tell. Based on re-investigation on-situ the writings on the wall and identify with certainty the correct recognition, this article put towards a new opinion that Vis’ a’S’ūra (966-977) as well known who succeed to the throne after Vis’ a’ Sambhava must be someone else by a careful study of this piece of Dunhuang mural with the inscription written on as a whole.
