| Abstract | 尼泊爾,位于中國和印度之間的喜馬拉雅山中段南麓,面積147,181平方公里,人口1,713萬(1985年),首都加德滿都,是一個歷史悠久的國家。尼泊爾南部地區古名迦毗羅衛,是佛祖釋迦牟尼的故鄉。因此,它就成了我國歷代僧人崇敬向往的佛教圣地。早在公元405年,就有我國山西省僧人法顯到達佛陀故鄉迦毗羅衛城和他的出生地論民(洛明達)園,瞻禮佛陀遺跡,從而開創了中尼人民的友好往來和佛教文化的相互交流,使尼泊爾佛教與山西佛教結下了友好情誼。
