Abstract

鈴木大拙是20世紀上半葉對西方禪佛教發展影響最大的學者和禪師。他所弘傳的禪佛教思想被稱為「鈴木禪」，深刻地影響了當代西方社會佛教及禪宗的傳播和發展。鈴木在向西方主動弘揚禪佛教的同時，強調了東方思想的優越性；他所闡釋的禪佛教采用了不同於傳統佛教研究的方法和策略，影響了20世紀上半葉的禪佛教研究；「鈴木禪」在積極與西方思想會通的同時，也對西方社會的生活及其文化產生了深遠的影響。

D.T. Suzuki is the best-known Buddhist scholar and Zen master in the former half of the 20th century. Suzuki’s Zen Buddhism exerted a great impact on the propagation and development of Zen Buddhism in the West. Initiatively, Suzuki introduced Zen Buddhism to the West with the emphasis on the superiority of the oriental thought. The methods and strategies of his interpretation of Zen Buddhism influenced the relevant academic research in the former half of the 20th century. Moreover, he accelerated the communication between Zen Buddhism and Western thought, and extended the influence of the oriental Zen to the Western society, life and culture.
