Abstract | In this paper I argue that bhikkhunī ordination carried out by bhikkhus only, "single ordination", is according to the Pāli Vinaya a legally valid procedure in a situation in which, due to the non-existence of a community of bhikkhunīs, the standard procedure of granting “dual ordination” by both communities is not possible.
