AbstractIn this paper I present the diplomatic and critical editions of Sanskrit text of the introductory section of Sthiramati’s Abhidharmasamuccayavyākhyā (= ASVy) on the basis of newly available folios from the manuscript currently preserved at Norbulingka, whose facsimile copy I utilized is preserved at the China Tibetology Research Centre in Beijing. It is most likely that Sthiramati wrote the portion of the text edited here, which is not included in Asaga’s Abhidharmasamuccaya or in its Bh āṣya. As a result of the comparison of Sanskrit text with Chinese and Tibetan translations, it turned out that Chinese translation by Xuanzang is very precise, while Tibetan translation contains a number of misunderstandings. Unfortunately, the very beginning portion of Sanskrit text that is supposed to contain the opening verses is missing due to the lack of the first folio of the manuscript. We can, however, reconstruct more than half of the opening verses based on the pratīkas contained in the second folio.
