Having visited many places significant to Buddhist history including Dunhuang, Loulan, the Northern and Southern Routes of the Western Regions, Central Asia, and India, the author expounds the influence of the Lotus Sutra in the Western Regions of China and Central Asia, explains the routes of dissemination by which Fahua teachings spread, and emphasizes the importance of Kashmir and Gilgit as important strongholds for the dissemination of the Lotus Sutra. The image of two Buddhas sitting side by side in Dunhuang murals is found to have originated from Hodur, today the city of Gilgit.
