Abstract | In the first half of the text titled Youposai wu jie weiyi jing 優婆塞五戒威儀經 (henceforth Weiyi jing, or WYJ),1 we find a variant Chinese version of what has been traditionally referred to in East Asia as the “bodhisattva prātimokṣa” ( pusa jieben 菩薩戒本), the set of four major and forty or so minor bodhisattva precepts that is compiled in the “Śīlapaṭala (Chapter on Morality) of the Bodhisattvabhūmi (henceforth BBh) in a format similar tothe prātimokṣas of bhikṣus and bhikṣuṇīs. |
