Abstract | 智者大師的佛學體系是在其巨著《妙法蓮華經玄義》中全面展開的,典型地反映在其中十妙(境、智、行、位、三法、感應、神通、說法、眷屬以及功德利益)的理論中。雖然說,十妙中最重要的應屬境妙、智妙和行妙,因為真理、智慧和實踐三個方面代表了行者的修行歷程,但行者修行的結果則是由位妙來代表的。故智者大師的果位體系,既是對前三妙的總結,為行者修行成佛提供了可資遵循的途徑。
T'ien-t'ai Chih-i's system of understanding Buddhism is comprehensively revealed in his masterpiece The Abstruse Meaning of the Lotus Sutra. Specifically speaking, it is displayed through his discussion of the Ten Subtleties, those of objects, knowledge, practice, position, three dharmas, empathy and response, supra-mundane power, expounding the dharma, retinues and benefit. Of these ten categories of Subtlety, the most important ones are the first three categories. Objects as truth is taken by Chih-i as the substance where everything is based upon. Knowledge is taken by Chih-i as gist, by which the truth can be penetrated. Practice is taken by Chin-i as function through which one is able to attain accomplishment. Having presented these three categories, however, Chih-i extensively discussed the Subtlety of Position in order to conclude the previous three categories of subtleties, as position is a result of one's practice. Thus, Chih-i's view of position incorporates all three elements(substance, gist and function), and is extremely important category in reflecting his system of understanding Buddhism. |
