| Abstract | 본 논문은 유식학에 관련하여 한국어로 쓰여 있는 논문 및 저술들을 바탕으로 유식학의 연구현황과 연구과제를 살펴본 것이다. 한국의 유식학의 연구는 70년대, 80년대의 완만한 상승세에 이어서 90년대에는 일반논문과 석박사 학위논문이 폭발적으로 증가하고 있다. 2000년대에는 90년대에 비해 일반논문과 박사 학위논문이 대폭적으로 증가하고 있다. 80년대 이전의 사상사 부문의 통계는 대개가 원측과 관련된 사상사적인 연구이며, 90년대와 2000년대 이후는 이만의 원측 이외의 신라 유식가들의 사상사에 대한 연구이다. 80년대부터 연구 주제의 범위가 점차 확대되고 있으며 90년대에 이르면 다양한 연구주제와 함께 연구 편수도 다량으로 늘어나고 있다. 특히 다른 학문과 비교하여 연구하거나 다른 학문과 융합된 연구가 80년대에 비교해서 90년대에 걸쳐 2000년대에 대폭적으로 늘어나고 있으며, 유식학을 활용한 응용부문에서도 마찬가지이다. 특히 주목할 만한 것은 2000년대에 들어와서는 비교융합부문과 수행부문이 어느 항목보다도 많은 편수인 34편과 33편의 논문이 발표되었다. 이는 그 동안 문헌, 역사, 인물, 법상 등의 연구가 어느 정도 진행되고서 관심의 영역이 유식학을 다른 학문과 비교하고 융합하거나 응용하며, 나아가 유식의 법상을 실제적으로 체득하기 위한 실천수행 쪽으로 관심이 옮겨가고 있음을 나타낸 것이라 할 수 있다.
이러한 연구현황을 바탕으로 앞으로 관심을 가지고 연구되어야할 과제를 몇 가지 나열하였다. 먼저 원측 유식사상에 대해 一切皆成說을 옹호하는 一乘的思想이라는 전통적인 해석에 대해 90년도 후반부터 일본의 소장학자들은 이를 부정하고 원측의 사상은 현장의 신유식에 철저하였으며 五姓各別說을 받아들였다는 견해가 제시되었다. 이러한 원측 유식사상의 성격에 대한 논란을 해결하기 위해서는 관련 문장 전반에 대한 보다 정확한 해석을 시도하고 이를 통해 원측의 의도를 객관적으로 파악하려는 노력이 우선되어야 할 것이다. 또한 당시의 대립상황에 대하여 대립하게 된 그 내용을 보다 구체적으로 파악하고 그것이 어떠한 사상적인 경향을 보여주는 것인지 파악하려는 시도가 필요하다. 그리고 신라 유식학의 위치를 정확하게 이해하기 위해서는 당시 사상계의 동향을 고려하면서 한국 중국 일본의 관련 유식학자들의 개별적인 연구도 중요하지만, 그들 상호 관련성에 대해서도 관심을 갖는 사상사적 연구로 진행되어야 할 필요가 있다. 유식관련 경론의 내용에 관한 연구에서는 유식관련 경론의 내용들을 드러내는 것 못지않게 그들 문헌에 대해 비판적인 시각에서 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 그 외의 과제로 십대논사들의 각자에 대한 연구 특히 무상유식학에 대한 연구, 유식의 실천수행의 결과에 대한 과학적인 접근, 번뇌학 연구를 통해 병적 심리현상을 밝히고 치유방법과 실행에 대한 구체적인 사례 등에 대한 연구, 사회적인 문제에 대한 유식학적인 접근, 현재 한국불자들의 신행상황에 대한 유식학적인 분석 등을 들었다.
In this paper, status and future of studies on Vijñāvāda Thought were examined. The study of Vijñāvāda in South Korea continued a gradual upward in the years 1970's and 1980's. In 1990's and 2000's, comparative speaking, research papers as well as dissertations of Doctor and Master Degree presented explosively.
The statistic of output on historical study before 1980's shows the domination of thought of Won Chuk(圓測). After 1990's and 2000's, the research materials of other Vijñāvāda scholars beside Won Chuk of Silla dynasty were dominated in the study field. Research since 1980's has been gradually expanded into the scope of various topics. In the 1990s, quantity of academic outcome is increasing in proportion to study category. Notably speaking, in the 1990s and 2000s when many research articles related with field of practice and comparative convergence published rather than other subjects.
Based on the studied topics, expecting fields that need to be further research were listed here. At first, it is said that the main thought of Vijñāvāda of Won Chuk was the teaching of 'One Vehicle(一乘)' advocated by thought of 'Sentient beings can attain enlightenment'. However, from the latter second half of 1990's, Japanese scholars denied this understading and presented the opinion that Won Chuk's Thought had stick on Huen Sang's New Idea of Vijñāvāda and did not adopted thought of 'Sentient beings can attain enlightenment'.
In order to resolve this controversy, textual analysis should be interpreted more accurately. Based on this, the first objective should be to identify the intention of Won Chuk.
Specifically the antagonistic contents between two opinions should be identified and compared ideological trend of those days. Moreover, to understand the exact position of the Vijñāvāda Thought in Silla Dynasty, trends of ideas and mutual relevance should be studied as well. It is needed to look critically on the contents of research materials of Vijñāvāda Sutra and Sastra on it.
Additionally, this paper suggested further study on the subjects as follows: Ten Major Commentators on , specially on Anlaksana-Vijnaptimatravadin thought ; scientific approach on result of practical application of Vijñāvāda Thought ; clarification of pathologic-psychological phenomena, its healing method and case study through afflictional approach ; comprehension by Vijñāvāda Thought on comtemporary social issues ; analyzation of Buddhist faith of Korean Buddhists on the base of Vijñāvāda T |
