COVID-19 has wreaked havoc on the world. In the face of various diseases, Buddhism has taken different approches to construct theories and methods to explain the emergence and elimination of the disease. Without precise instruments, Buddhism uses humanistic thinking, as well as sociology, to explain the world and the disease. Virus does not exist in Buddhist's conceptual scheme (only bacteria), but this is not to say that Buddhism cannot play a role in treating COVID-19. By contrast, it can play an important role in response to COVID-19. This role is not the study or theory of diseases, Instead, they can enhance the specific understanding and practice of the epidemic. This article mainly discusses the specific understanding of the prevention and treatment of the epidemic from the Buddhist“diet view”.
