| Abstract | 중(中)이란 공하지 않음과 공하지 않지 않음, 없지 않음과 있지 않음, 있음과 없음이다. 있음이란 허망분별과 공성의 있음이고 없음이란 파악되는 것과 파악하는 것의 없음이다. 또 있음이란 허망분별에 공성이 있는 것이고 공성에 허망분별이 있는 것이다. 중도(中道)란 이러한 중(中)을 보는 것이다. 삼자성(三自性)에 있어서 중도란 변계소집의 있지 않음을 보는 것이고 의타기의 있지 않음을 보는 것이며 원성실의 있음을 보는 것이다. 근본의 진실(眞實)에 있어서 중도란 변계소집의 항상 있지 않음을 보는 것이고 의타기의 진실하지 않게 있음을 보는 것이며 원성실의 있음과 없음을 보는 것이다. 상(相)의 진실에 있어서 중도란 법(法)과 인(人)의 증익과 손감을 보지 않는 것이고 파악되는 것과 파악하는 것의 증익과 손감을 보지 않는 것이며 있음과 없음의 증익과 손감을 보지 않는 것이다. 이 모든 중(中)과 중도(中道)는 원성실의 중과 중도에 기초한다. 원성실의 중이란 있음과 없음이니 이는 일어남의 다른 표현이다. 원성실의 중도란 원성실의 중인 있음과 없음을 보는 것이다.
The process of dicriminating between middle and extremes is the path on which we exclude the both extremes, that is, being and non-being and disclose the middle. The middle path is the path of the middle. The path of the middle is to see the middle clearly and distinctly.
When Maitreya says that the untruthful universal constructor exists, the apprehending and the apprehended do not exist, and the voidness exists, he is expressing the middle. In this case, the middle is being and non-being.
When Maitreya says that the untruthful universal constructor is the dependent, the apprehending and apprehended are the universally constructed, and the voidness is the fully accomplished, the middle is the being of the dependent and the voidness, and the non-being of the universally constructed.
When Maitreya says that the universally constructed does not exist all the time, the dependent exists untruthfully, and the fully accomplished exists and does not exist untruthfully, the middle is the non-bening of the universally constructed, and the being of the dependent and the fully accomplished.
When Maitreya says that the truth is not to see the increase and decrease, the construction and destruction of the dharma and the person, the apprehended and the apprehending, the being and the non-being, the middle is the being and the non-being of each self-nature.
The being and the non-being of the fully accomplished have to be interpreted as a occurrence of the truth. The being of the fully accomplished is disclosed by the non-being of the universally constructed, but it doesn't contain any negation. The positve being of the fully accomplished explicates the dependent, and the dependant implicates the pure being of the fully accomplished. The non-being of the fully accomplished is the other expression of the being, because the being of the fully accomplished is an occurrence itself. |
