| Abstract | 從六祖慧能 “佛法在世間､ 不離世間覺”的理念開始, 經過⾺祖的 “平常心是道”, ⾄北宋黃⿓時完成和實現了禪宗的儒學化, 南宋⼤慧宗杲說 : “入得世間, 出世無餘, 世間法則佛法, 佛法則世間法也｡”､ “三敎聖人立敎雖異, 而其道同歸一致. 此萬古不易之義｡” “菩提心則忠義心也, 名異而體同｡ 但此心與義相遇, 則世出世間, 一網打就｡” 基本上脫離和超越世間與出世間之區別, 重視現實世界的重要性｡ 台灣人間佛教繼承和實踐 “菩提心則忠義心也, 名異而體同”, 超越了世間與出世間之區別｡ 這些人間佛教 儒佛結合的特徵, 重視現實､ 教育､ 人格的重要性, 推動佛教的現代化､ ⼤眾化､ 生活化､ 國際化､ 人間化｡ 在此從台灣歷史､ 佛教歷史､ 文學､ 文化史等三個層面探討台灣人間佛教“儒佛結合”的特徵形成之因素｡
“The integration of Buddhism and Confucianism won popular support.” This is a typical characteristic of Taiwan’s Humanistic Buddhism. Master Sheng Yen of the Dharma Drum Mountain put forward the “Six Ethics of the Mind” including Family Ethics, Daily Life Ethics, School Ethics, Environmental Ethics, and Workplace Ethics on the basis of the traditional Confucian ethics. With their emphasis on the teaching of "love and respect", "Teaching in accordance with students’ aptitudes", "Leading by examples", "Valuing morality and integrity", and "Seeking common ground while preserving and respecting differences", all were originated from the traditional Confucian ethics. The Buddhist educational institutions are also called academies, such as the Vimalakirti Academy and Sheng Yen Academy.
Master Hsing Yun of the Fo Guang Shan said. “Human Buddhism is the Buddhism teaching to become human to others, to become happy, to respect each other with parents’ care for their children and children’ filial piety toward their parents, and to give people happiness.” Tzu Chi also promotes the New Life Movement that “denies one’s self and returns to propriety so that the virtue of people will resume its proper excellence.” and “improves humanistic temperament, revives respect for teachers and filial piety.” and so on. Tzu Chi’s propaganda of “Great Love” and the Confucian teaching that “The benevolent man is one with all things” are similar to each other. This article intends to examine Taiwan’s modern history with Taiwan’s history of Buddhism and religious culture to explore the causes, characteristics, and processes of the integration of Confucianism and Buddhism in Taiwan. Finally, we conclude and summarize the subjectivity of East Asian Han Buddhism and its future Direction of development.
현재 타이완에서 유행하는 “인간불교”는 태허대사와 인순대사의 “인간불교”에서 비롯된 것이다. 이들 사상의 출발점은 초기 신유학자인 양수명梁漱溟과 밀접한 관계가 있다는 것이 타이완 학계의 대체적인 시각이다.
1970년대는 타이완 종교의 중요한 전변기이다. 1971년 중화민국이 유엔에서 퇴출되면서 타이완 사회는 강렬한 민족의식의 대두와 더불어서 반서방, 반일 사조가 고양되었다. 따라서 기독교 및 천주교는 타이완 사회에서 축출되었고, 본토화 색채가 농후한, 유가 사상을 종지宗旨로 삼는 “일관도”가 흥성하였다. “인간불교”도 타이완의 문화 뿌리 찾기와 본토화 회귀 사조에 부합하면서 유불이 결합된 “인간불교” 이념을 적극 구축하였다.
타이완은 특수한 역사적인 배경과 다양한 이질적인 문화요소를 가지고 있어 다원화된 모습을 갖추고 있다. 명정明鄭 시기에는 주자학보다는 경세치용 위주의 실학을 강조하였고, 신유가인 모종삼, 서복관 등의 유불도의 포용 및 다원적인 사유는 타이완 사회에 포용성과 다원화를 형성하는데 영향을 미쳤을 것으로 추정된다. 게다가 1980년대 일어난 타이완 본토화 운동 이후, 1950년대 이후 성장한 일관도가 반중국화에 힘입어서 세를 크게 확대하였다. 타이완 본토화를 추구하던 종교적인 수요에 부합하고 인심에 부응하기 위해 타이완 “인간불교”도 원유입불援儒入佛 방식을 적극적으로 취하여 유불이 결합된 “인간불교”의 특징을 갖추게 되었던 것이다. |
