| Abstract | 본고에서는 펠리오 티벳어 사본 116번의 사본학적 특징과 함께 중국 선사상과 관련한 내용을 고찰하고자 한다.
Ⅱ장에서는 고대 티벳어 철자법인 ‘덧붙여진 da(da drag)’가 이 사본에 일관되게 사용되지 않은 특징을 통해 이 사본의 작성 연대가 티벳의 돈황 함락 연도인 786년 이후, 814년 <번역어휘 표제 항(skad gsar bcad)>이 칙령에 의해 제정된 이후, 그리고 새로운 티벳어 정서법이 아직 정착되기 이전의 어느 시기에 작성되었을 것이라고 추정하였다. 이러한 추정을 통해 돈황이라는 지역에서 콘서티나 판형을 지닌 사본의 유행 연대를 기존의 견해인 ‘9세기 중반부터’가 아닌, ‘814년 이후의 9세기 초반부터’로 수정해야 함을 제안하였다. 그리고 지면 공간의 제약으로 인해 뒷글자(젠죽 rjes 'jug)인 ‘-m’을 대신해서 산스크리트어 ‘anusvāra(ṃ)’와 유사한 형태가 사용되고 있다는 점도 이 사본의 특징 중 하나이다.
Ⅲ장에서는 PT 116이 보현보살의 위대한 서원과 연관된 『성보현보살행원왕경』으로 시작한다는 것은 중국 선불교를 수행하는 티벳인에게 자기 자신이 바로 보현보살이라는 자각을 끊임없이 일으키도록 유발하는 역할을 담당하기 위한 것이고, 중국 선불교에서 중시되었던 『금강경』이 서사되었다는 것은 중국 선불교의 법맥 계승이라는 사자상승과 일정한 연관성이 있음을 암시하는 것이다. 이어서 등장하는 『불교학설강요서(가제)』와 『견해의 의미(가제)』를 통해서는 ‘지(知, blo)’의 앎과 함께 無取捨와 무주처열반을 강조하고 있다. 그리고 『얻을 것이 정녕 아무 것도 없는 단 하나의 방식』에서는 중국 선불교의 가르침에 매료되어 禪을 수행하는 티벳인 제자들을 ‘대유가사들(mahāyogins)’이라고 부르고, 단 하나의 법인 ‘지(知, blo)’를 수습해도 깨달음을 성취할 수 있다고 강조하고 있으며, 또한 동시론(cig car)의 입장에서 ‘무분별(rnam par myi rtogs pa)’과 ‘無相(mtshan ma myed pa)’, 그리고 不思不觀(myi bsam myI rtog pa) 등의 가르침을 피력하고 있다. 끝으로 PT 116은 비망록의 일종으로 보인다.
Based on Sam van Schaik's previous studies, this paper aims to examine the physical features and the contents of Chinese Chan Buddhism of Pelliot Tibétain 116.
In Chapter 2, because of the inconsistent application of the da drag, or ‘strong da’ to PT 116, I would suggest that the date of writing of Pelliot Tibétain 116 is the early 9th century after 814 when the “skad gsar bcad” was enacted by the Tibetan king's edict. And the main characteristic of PT 116 is that the paper restriction uses a form similar to the Sanskrit 'anusvāra (ṃ)' is being used instead of the rjes 'jugs –m.
In Chapter 3, the purpose of the introduction of PT 116, which begins with the Āryabhadracaryāpraṇidhānarāja, is to constantly remind Tibetan who practice Chinese Chan Buddhism in Dunhuang of the great vows (praṇidhāna) of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. The subsequent emergence of the Vajracchedikā, which was valued in Chinese Chan Buddhism, is believed to be linked to the transmission of teachings between Chan masters and disciples. In addition, A Grub mtha' (tentative title) and the lTa ba mdor bsdus pa las 'byung ba'I don emphasize the faults of acceptance and abandonment (blang ba dang dor ba'I skyon), and apratiṣṭhitanirvāṇa. And the dMyigs su myed pa tshul gcig pa refers to the Tibetan who are fascinated by the teachings of Chan Buddhism as "mahāyogins", emphasizing that they can achieve enlightenment by simply practicing ‘blo (zhī 知)’, and ‘rnam par myi rtogs pa’, ‘mtshan ma myed pa’ and ‘myi bsam myI rtog pa’ from the perspective of simultaneist (cig car). Finally, PT 116 appears to be a kind of memorandum.
