AbstractThere are 10 chapters in the thesis describing the reason, situation, and specials events in regards to Chinese monks spreading their beliefs in Korea and Korean monks’ learning experiences in Chang An, the capital of Teng Dynasty.
In my thesis, it clearly stated that the Korean Buddhism religion started in Chang An. Korean monks coming to Chang An to learn its religion has ultimately replaced the event of Chinese monks teaching its religion in Korea. As a result, Hai Dong Buddhism has developed through its first phase of development into the second phase of development, and experienced rapid development in terms of popularity and penetration.

Some of those high level Korean monks also served an important role in the Chinese Buddhism making significant contribution in translation or become the leader in some key branched out Buddhism beliefs. In addition, some of them actually went across the straight to Japan, such as 慧灌、道登、and 審祥, where they have also made important historical contributions.
There are several key points of Hai Dong monks includ ed in the book 《中韓佛教關系一千年》, as follows
1. Placed high emphasis on the most recent development and tracking high level events of Chinese Buddhism, and adjust their own direction and center of their development.
