| Abstract | 在台灣人間佛教的蓬勃發展中，以實現「淨土在人間」理念，積極 投入社會再造者不乏其人，當中證嚴法師和昭慧法師可說是兩位備受矚 目的人物。兩位法師都有著深切的入世關懷，但形象典範一柔一剛，不 但思想性情互異，對佛法入世的闡發精神、實踐方式、致力領域、修學 理念等，也不盡相同。本文即試以「治心」與「治境」對比兩位法師社 會再造的兩重進路，其中，證嚴法師關注「治本在治心」，昭慧法師強調 「立善法於天下，則天下治」。文中延伸的討論包括，兩人的公共意識如 何影響生成不同的治本思考與治世之道，以及兩種模式間的局限與互 補。透過兩種不同思考方式、實踐模式的交錯對比，或可為佛教在社會 秩序的教化梳理上，提供新的啟發。
Humanistic Buddhism is the mainstream of Buddhism in Taiwan. Each different Humanistic Buddhist group participated in the reconstruction of society, hoping to realize the idea of Pure Land on Earth. Master Cheng-Yen and Master Chao-Hwei are the two that receive the most attention. Both masters care profoundly about human society, but their images, personal traits, spiritual concepts, methods of implementation, and dedicated fields are different. This article compares Master Cheng-Yen's 'Heart-Oriented' Method and Master Chao-Hwei's 'System-Oriented' Method as examples. Master Cheng-Yen believes social improvement should start from inner education, that is the 'Heart-Oriented', while Master Chao-Hwei thinks it is about institutional construction, that is the 'System-Oriented'. The extended discussions include how the two masters' public awareness affects their different approaches, as well as the limits and complements between their two different orientations. |
