Abstract兩晉、南北朝,維摩詰信仰盛行,然而南、北文化不同,在維摩詰經圖像的發展上,兩地有別。因維摩詰辯才無礙,是兩晉、南朝清談名士崇拜的偶像,所以居士型維摩詰的單身像在南方較為流行。現存北方的維摩詰經圖像,則多以維摩詰、文殊對坐像的表現形式為主,與南方傳統大異其趣。北朝早期的維摩詰或作菩薩裝,或著胡服,北魏遷都洛陽以後,積極推行漢化政策,在南朝文化影響下,身著漢服,秀骨清相,前憑隱几,或後靠隱囊,姿勢自在不覊的維摩詰像始在北方大量出現。北朝維摩詰經圖像可分為維摩詰經像和維摩詰經變兩大類,其中以表現簡單的維摩詰和文殊隔龕或隔佛對坐的維摩詰經像數量最多,分布地區也最廣。此外,在河南、山西和甘肅東部發現敘事色彩較豐的維摩詰經變,但各地的表現差異甚大。
