| Abstract | 본 연구는 중국에서 출현한 조사선(祖師禪) 가운데 임제선(臨濟禪)의 ‘사빈주(四賓主)’에 나타난 상담심리의 기제를 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 선종에서는 일반적으로는 학인이 선지식(善知識)을 참알(參謁)하고 직접 대면하여 그를 깨달음으로 이끌어 주는 방식이 가장정통적이다. 이러한 방식을 선종에서는 ‘제접법(提接法)’이라고 칭한다. 선종에서 사용하는 ‘제접’의 방식을 다른 측면으로 보자면 바로 일종의 ‘상담’이라고 할 수 있다. 이러한상담은 학인을 ‘깨달음’으로 이끌어 주는 ‘목표지향적(goal oriented)’인 상담이다.
‘사빈주’는 ‘빈간주(賓看主), 주간빈(主看賓), 주간주(主看主), 빈간빈(賓看賓)’의 네 가지인데, 선사와 학인이 ‘주인[主]’과 ‘손님[賓]’으로 나누어 서로의 심리를 교차하는 방식이다. 어떤 때는 선사가 주인이 되어 학인을 손님으로 응대하고, 어떤 때는 학인이 주인의 역할을 하여 선사를 대하는 등 각각의 상황에 맞게 자유롭게 주빈이 교차하여 깨달음으로 이끌어가는 것은 바로 상담자와 내담자가 상담을 진행함과 상당히 유사하다고 할 수 있다.
‘사빈주’에서 도출되는 선심리학에 있어서 상담의 기제(機制)는 불교심리학에서 상담의기제로 설정하는 ‘열림’과 ‘제거’의 방식과 동일하다고 할 수 있다. 그러나 ‘사빈주’에서는 보다 직접적인 ‘대면’을 중시하기 때문에 보다 다양한 활용이 가능하다. 특히 이를통하여 상담자와 내담자의 자유로운 호용(互用)을 통한 ‘역할극’으로의 활용이 더욱 두드러진다고 하겠다.
The purpose of this study is to clarify the mechanism of counseling psychology in‘Sabinju’ by Linji Seon among the Patriarchal Seon that emerged in China. In Seon Buddhism, in general, the most orthodox method is the way that scholars confront them and lead them to enlightenment. This method is referred to as ‘Enlightenment Approach (提接法)’. in Seon School. If we look at the method of ‘Enlightenment Approach’ used in the Seon School, it can be referred to as a kind of ‘counseling’. Such counseling is a “goal oriented” counseling that leads scholars to “enlightenment”.
‘SiBinZhu’ is the four types of ‘BinkanZhu(賓看主), ZhuKanBin(主看賓), ZhuKanZhu(主看賓), BinKanBin(賓看賓)’. This is a method of crossing each other’s mind by dividing it into ‘master’ and ‘guest’. Sometimes the Seon Master acts as the owner and treats the scholar as a guest, and sometimes the scholar acts as the master to treat the Seon Master. It can be said that it is quite similar to the counselor and client counseling that the guest can freely cross each other and lead to enlightenment.
In Seon psychology derived from “SiBinZhu”, the mechanism of counseling can be said to be the same as the methods of “opening” and “removing” that Buddhist psychology sets as the mechanism of counseling. However, in ‘SiBinZhu’, more direct ‘face to face’ is emphasized, so it can be used in a wider variety. In particular, through this, the use of the counselor and the client as a “role play” through free favor is more remarkable.
