Abstract규기는 『술기』와 『장중추요』에서 견분과 상분이 같은 종자에서 생하는가 다른 종자에서 생하는가 하는 문제를 다룬다. 이는 식소변을 더 깊게 이해하기 위한 것이고, 이어서 삼장가타를 해석하면서 삼류경론을 전개하기 위한 것이기도 하다. 『술기』에서도 『장중추요』에서도 동종설과 별종설을 표제로 놓고 이들을 설명한다. 『술기』에는 동종의 성격이 잘 서술되고 있지 않지만, 『장중추요』에는 본질이 있는 경우와 본질이 없는 경우로 나누어져 명료하게 서술되고 있다. 『술기』에서든 『장중추요』에서든 동종설에 대한 아무런 비판이 이루어지고 있지 않지만, 『장중추요』에서 호법의 설을 정설로 취한다고 하는 것으로 보아 규기는 같은 종자인 경우도 있고 다른 종자인 경우도 있다는 견해를 취한다는 것을 알 수 있다. 따라서 이 견해에 입각해서 동종설을 비판할 수 있겠는데, 규기의 제자 혜소 역시 호법의 설을 정설로 취하면서 동종설을 비판하고 있으므로, 이 비판을 읽어 보면 동종설과 별종설에 대한 규기의 견해가 무엇인지 정확히 알 수 있다. 동종설은 제팔상례실, 제법잡란실, 계잡란실 같은 과실을 범하고 있다. 별종설은 규기가 정설로 삼고 있는 혹동혹이설의 다른 이름일 뿐이다.

In his treatises named 『述記』 and 『掌中樞要』, Kuigi(窺基) is dealing with the subject matter as to whether the act is identical with or different from the object. The goal of this theory is to gain the deep understanding of the transformation of the consciousness, and to develop the theory of three types of the object. Either 『述記』 or 『掌中樞要』 is explaining the two types of the theory as to the seed. The characteristics of the identical seed are not well described in 『述記』, but they are well described in 『掌中樞要』, differentiating between the instance of what has the existence and one of what doesn't have the existence. In both 『述記』 and 『掌中樞要』, he doesn't criticize any of the theories as to the seed, but we can know that he has the view of a twofold type of the seed because he takes Dharmapāla's theory as the establised one. On the basis of this view, we can criticize the theory of the identical seed. Hyeso(惠沼), Kuigi's diciple criticizes the theory of the identical seed and he also takes Dharmapāla's postion as the establised one. As we read this criticism, we can understand what Kuigi's position is. As a result of this investigation, the theory of the identical seed has some mistakes such as the fallacy that the 8th-consciousness is treated equally as the pre-7consciousness, the fallacy that all dharmas are mixed and confused, and the fallacy that the spheres are mixed and confused. The theory of the different seed is just another name of the theory of a twofold type of the seed, which Kuigi considers as the establised one.
