Abstract《阿彌陀經〉云不可以「少善根福德」因緣,得生彼國:接著有執持名號生西之文,故祖師皆謂「執持名號」為生西要法。如此詮解當屬的當,唯此中似省略不少推論過程及說明;如「善根」「福德」意涵及二者關係;「大善根」「多福德」意涵?祖師類謂:「執持名號」是「多善根多福德」,其理何在?「信願念佛」當如何與「善根」「福德」匹配;「信願持名」為生西勝妙法原理安在?又信願持名三資糧輕重順位如何?此為本文問題意識。

經本文探討得如下結論:心識奥福份為每一生命總資财,就修行人言即為善根與福德;二者有主從關係,就求生淨土言實難分軒輊。本經善根與福德當有兩義:一總義,一別義;總義就整體善根與福德言其多少,別義就善根中之個別善根,及能造就不同福德之個別業行言:以「信願念佛」論,「信願」為心誠上事,屬善根無疑義:「念佛」雖不屬善根與福德,但能帶來大福德,故可權稱福德。

最後本文詳疏「信願」為「大善根」、「念佛」為「大福德」之理;說明生西過程,信願之大善根絕對必要,及一句佛號能消八十五億劫生死重罪之理:緣此能讓生西所需福德之量迅速達標,且能與彌陀本願相隨順感應,故為往生淨土最勝妙法門;凡有志生西者,當皆以此信願念佛為繫心法門。
