| Abstract | 본고는 행우서옥(杏雨書屋) 소장 돈황문헌 『대승기신론소』(추정제목, 羽 333V, 이하 행우서옥본)에 인용되거나 명확히 전제되고 있는 진제의 역서 혹은 찬술서의 활용방식을 담연소의 활용방식과 비교하면서 고찰하고 그 의미를 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 고찰의 결과는 다음과 같다. 먼저, 행우서옥본은 『구식장』과 『대승론』의 제명을 들고 그 내용을 설명하거나 직접 인용한다. 이 중 『구식장』은 본문에서 설명되고 있지만 『대승론』은 행간에 삽입된 형태로 인용되어 있다. 이에 대해 담연소는 이 두 문헌을 언급하지 않는다. 이는 『기신론』의 심·의·식설에 대한 행우서옥본과 담연소의 해석의 차이에 기인한다고 볼 수 있다. 이 경우 담연소가 『기신론』 본문에 충실한 해석을 하는 경향을 보인다. 다음으로, 진제역 『섭대승론석』에 기반한 행우서옥본의 주석이 담연소와 일치하는 경우와 그렇지 않는 경우를 살펴보았다. 어떤 경우든 담연소는, 진제역 『섭대승론석』을 직접 참조하지 않고, 행우서옥본을 참조로 하여 주석하고 있다고 보인다. 나아가 명백히 진제역 『섭대승론석』을 전거로 하고 있지만, 행우서옥본의 주석이 진제역 『섭대승론석』의 문맥과 일치하지 않는 예도 한 번 발견된다. 이 경우도 담연소는 진제역 『섭대승론석』이 아니라 행우서옥본과 일치한다. 이것은 행우서옥본이 담연소에 선행하는 것을 보여주는 확실한 논거의 하나다. 마지막으로, 행우서옥본은 진제역 『불성론』의 용어나 개념을 적극적으로 활용하지만, 담연소는 『불성론』에 기반한 용어나 개념을 의도적으로 회피하고 있는 경향을 확인했다. 이상을 전체적으로 정리하면, 행우서옥본이 진제 역서·찬술서에 충실히 의거해 『기신론』을 주석하는 반면, 담연소는 그것을 수정하거나 무시하는 사례가 많다. 그러나 이러한 수정과 무시가 오히려 『기신론』 본문에 더 충실하다고 평가할 수 있다. 이 점에서 담연소는 행우서옥본보다 발전한 『기신론』 이해 방식을 보이고 있다고 할 수 있다.
In this paper, I intend to examine the passages quoted from Paramartha`s corpus which is found in Dashen qixin lun shu (大乘起信論疏, a provisional title, hane 羽 333V) belonging to the Kyo`u (杏雨) Library, with special reference to Tanyan`s (曇延, 516-588) Dashen qixin lun yishu (大乘起信論義疏). Firstly, the 羽333V explains the doctrines of the Jiu shi zhang 九識章 in the main text and quotes the Dasheng lun 大乘論 between the lines with their titles. On the contrary, Tanyan`s commentary does not refer to these two texts. This seems due to the difference in the theory of Mind between the 羽333V and Tanyan`s commentary. In this case, Tanyan`s commentary tends to be more faithful to the theory of Mind of Dashen qixin lun (大乘起信論). Secondly, we can find a number of comments based on the Paramartha`s translation of the Mahayanasamgrahabhasya (MSBh) in the 羽333V. In this case, Tanyan`s commentary seems based on the 羽333V not on the MSBh directly. Furthermore, we can find only one example in the 羽333V which is based on the MSBh but does not match the context of the MSBh. In this case, also, Tanyan`s commentary follows the 羽333V instead of MSBh. This example clearly shows that the 羽333V precedes Tanyan`s commentary. Finally, there is a tendency that the 羽333V uses the terms or concepts of Foxin lun 佛性論, but Tanyan`s commentary deliberately avoids the terms or concepts of Foxin lun 佛性論. In summary, the 羽333V is close to the Paramartha`s corpus. On the contrary, we can find some cases that Tanyan`s commentary modifies the comments of the 羽333V based on Paramartha`s corpus. In that case, however, Tanyan`s commentary tends to be more faithful to the theory of Mind of Dashen qixin lun (大乘起信論). We, therefore, can probably conclude that Tanyan`s commentary is a later and advanced commentary of Dashen qixin lun (大乘起信論). |
