| Abstract | 宏船法師 ( 1907 － 1990) 於 1982 至 1990 年間八次訪問中國。在這期間，宏船法師會見了中國國家領導人 和宗教界領袖，參訪佛教聖地，幫助重建與他師父會泉法師有關的佛寺，並主持宗教儀式。本文主要考察宏船法師訪問中 國的外交意義，將這些宗教交流置於 20 世紀 70 年代末中國對外開放之後更廣闊的中新關係歷史背景之中，以論證佛教在 兩國建立官方外交關係之前所發揮的促進兩國關係的作用。在中新兩國尚不存在正式外交渠道的情況下，宏船法師的宗教 之旅作為非正式外交渠道，幫助兩國互建信心。
Venerable Hong Choon（Hong Chuan,1907-1990） made eight visits to China between 1982 and 1990.During these visits,the Venerable met national and religious leaders of China,made pilgrimages to sacred Buddhist sites,helped to restore the monasteries associated with his master Venerable Hui Quan,and officiated at religious ceremonies.This study aims to examine the diplomatic significance of Venerable Hong Choon’s visits to China.It positions these religious exchanges within the broader context of China-Singapore relations since the reopening of China in the late 1970s,and argues that Buddhism played a role in fostering international relations between the two countries in the period prior to the official establishment of diplomatic ties.In the absence of formal diplomatic channels between China and Singapore,Venerable Hong Choon’s religious visits could thus be seen as a form of informal diplomacy with the aim of confidence building. |
