AbstractThis article, a response to A. Vovin and L. Sagart’s criticism (in JA 2016) of C.I. Beckwith, examines their main arguments and several specific points. It turns out that their criticisms are based partly on the fact, which Vovin and Sagart demonstrate, that they did not actually read most of the article which they claim to criticize, and partly on their simple misunderstanding of its actual subject. The author shows point by point that their criticism is unfounded and their counter-arguments are invalid. In the course of the examination, significant points neglected by them are discussed, and the results of the original article of Beckwith (in JA 2014) are confirmed.
