Abstract『중변론』 1-1송의 ‘허망분별’의 구조와 그 의미를 살펴보면, 삼성설이 허망분별의 구조적 기반위에서 성립되어 있고, 허망분별이 실재적 존재로서 공성과 긴밀한 관계로 설정되어 있음이 확인된다. 특히, 세친이 유식적인 空観을 단적으로 보여주는 『보살지』 『진실의품』의 『소공경』을 인용하고, 그 이해방식에 근거하여 허망분별과 공성의 관계를 해석하고 있는 점에 주목하게 된다. 실제 안혜의 주석에 따르면, 『중변론』의 ‘허망분별’은 『보살지』 『진실의품』의 ‘실재(vastu)’의 사상을 그대로 계승하여 유식적으로 새롭게 적용된 것으로 이해된다. 이것은 삼성설의 존재론적 측면을 나타내는 것으로서 유식적인 이제에서 삼성설로 전개되었음을 시사한다. 따라서 본고에서는 허망분별(abhūtaparikalpa)에 대한 고찰을 통해서 『중변론』의 삼성설은 허망분별을 사상적 기반으로 성립되었고, 허망분별은 유식적 공관에 입각하여 『반야경』 계통의 공성의 사상을 그 내부에 체계화하여 성립된 사상임을 해명한 것이다.

This paper is to elucidate the structural feature of the theory of Trisvabhāva from the text-historical perspective by analyzing "abhūtaparikalpa," a notion which plays an important role in Madhyāntavibhāga(MV), one of the early Yogācāra texts ascribed to Maitreya. Examining the meaning and structure of the abhūtaparikalpa in the MVK Ⅰ-1, it is confirmed that the theory of Trisvabhāva is established, centering around the notion of abhūtaparikalpa, and that the abhūtaparikalpa is to be understood against the concept of sūnyatā, which represents reality. Especially, it is to noted that Vasubandhu interprets the relation between abhūtaparikalpa and sūnyatā by quoting the sūtra of little emptiness(小空經) in the Fourth Chapter of Tattvārtha in the Bodhisattvabhūmi, which epitomizes the Yogācāra understanding of emptiness. In fact, according to Sthiramati's commentary, it is known that the notion of abhūtaparikalpa in the MVBh inherited, more or less, the idea of reality(vastu) as represented in the Tattvārtha Chapter of the Bodhisattvabhūmi and re-adjusted it in the Yogācāra context. This illustrates the ontological aspect of the Trisvabhāva theory, that is to say, the ideological evolution of the Yogācāra view of two truths to the Trisvabhāva theory. In conclusion, it is understood that the Trisvabhāva theory is established on the idea of abhūtaparikalpa, and the notion of abhūtaparikalpa itself is the outcome of the Yogācāra internalization of the thought of sūnyatā as represented in the Prajñāpāramitā-sūtra in light of Yogācāras' idealistic reinterpretation of the notion of sūnyatā.
