| Abstract | 본고는 유식문헌에서 설하는 법무아설의 의미가 무엇이며, 그것이 어떤 맥락에서 등장했으며, 이를 성취하는 방법이 무엇인지를 다루었다. 법무아설이란 개아뿐 아니라 모든 구성요소의 비존재를 주장하는 것인데, 초기 유식문헌인 「보살지」에서 법무아는 소지장의 제거를 위한 것으로서 간주되고 있다. 여기서 일체법의 불가언설이라는 전제 하에서 법무아의 증득은 법을 유-무로 파악하는 것을 떠난 것이다. 여기서 유-무로서의 파악이란 이전 시기의 실재 이해를 표현한 것이다. 보통 유식문헌에서 일반적으로 법무아를 증득하는 방법은 삼성설과 밀접히 관련되어 있지만, 본고에서는 삼성설이 도입되기 이전의 유식학의 사유를 보여주는 것으로서 <진실의품>에서 논해진 8종 분별과 세 가지 사태의 분류의 의미를 다루었다. 여기서 相(nimitta)과 명칭(nāman), 분별(vikalpa)의 관계에 대한 논의는 사실상 三性 중에서 변계소집성과 의타기성에 대한 논의일 것이다. 그리고 마지막으로 법무아를 증득하는 구체적인 관법으로서 <진실의품>에서 설명된 4심사와 4여실변지의 의미를 다루었다. 거기서의 자성과 차별이란 주제는 바로 『해심밀경』에서 변계소집상을 정의할 때 나오는 단어로서, 이들 4종 심사와 이에 대한 여실한 관찰로서의 4종 여실변지를 통해 어떻게 사유 속에서 명칭을 통해 대상의 존재성이 정립되는지, 그리고 그 정립된 실체화로부터 벗어날 수 있는지를 보여주고 있다.
This paper aims at the clarification of the meaning of the dharmanairātmya particularly taught in the early Yogācāra texts. Usually, the meaning of the dharmanairātmya can be defined as the non-existence of all factors (dharma), which implies that no external things really exist. The purpose of realizing the dharmanairātmya is, according to the Bodhisattvabhūmi, to extinguish the Hindrances of the knowledge to the things to be known (jñeyāvaraṇa), thereby leading to the supreme state of Buddhahood. Therefore, it would be useful to know from what context it was introduced to the Bodhisattvabhūmi, the first systematization of the Yogācāra school. For this purpose, the text materials for this research is restricted to the fourth chapter of the Bodhisattvabhūmi, Tattvārtha chapter, and the related texts to it. In this work, the jñeyāvaraṇa is explained without reference to the theory of the Three Nature, though the way of realizing dharmanairātmya, which is taught to be inexpressible (anabhilāpya), is clearly referred to in the first point (vastu, 事), under which the first three conceptualizations (vikalpas), namely, svabhāva-, viśeṣa- and piṇḍagrāha-vikalpa are subsumed. That vastu functions as the basis and object of the discriminating thoughts and proliferation (vikalpaprapañcādhiṣṭhānaṃ vikalpaprapaṃcālambanaṃ vastu). As the second stage of my analysis, I focus on the concepts of the four kinds of investigation (paryeṣaṇa) and four kinds of through analysis (yathābhūta-parijñāna) as an effective way of realizing the non-substantiality of the existent things, because through the former method, on the one hand, the reality of the things is reduced to the conventional conjugation of name and thing referred to by name, and through the latter method, on the other hand, their accidental connection, when analysed its existence from the viewpoint of its own nature (svabhāva) and differences (viśeṣa), can be throughly realized. |
