Abstract認識論並非西方哲學的專利,在同屬印歐語系的印度佛教哲學中,我們同樣也能發現源遠流長的認識論傳統,認識論問題也是推動古印度佛教哲學發展的基本問題之一。從認識論的角度對"唯識前史"進行考察可以發現:有部在認識論上取"實在論"的"符合論"立場,認為凡認知的對象都是實有的,並以此來證成其"三世實有"說。分別說系與譬喻師(經部師)則認為"識可緣無",過去與未來的認知都屬"緣無之識",由此反對"三世實有"而立"過未無體"。經部進一步提出"帶相"說,認為不僅"緣無之識"根本就不需要有外部對象,而且"緣有之識"的生起雖以外界極微的作用力為前提,然而被認知物的形成更在於心識的主動統合,外界極微本身不能被認知。印度佛教從這種類似"批判實在論"的立場進一步推展,便可引發出其後來的唯心論(唯識學)轉向。
