| Abstract | 본 연구에서는 원불교의 진리관인 일원상에 관한 연구를 종합적으로 검토 하고 원불교학의 새로운 과제를 제시하였다. 일원상은 원불교 교조인 소태산 박중빈의 깨달음을 상징한 것으로 일원상 교리에 관한 대체는 소태산 생전에 완성되었다. 이후 일원상은 원불교학 연구의 중심과제였고 ‘일원상의 진리’에 관한 해석학적 논쟁이 진행되었다. 이에 ‘일원상의 진리’를 중심으로 원불교 초기교단인 불법연구회의 일원상 관련 자료부터 해방 이후의 원불교학계 안 팎에서 발표된 연구자료를 분석하여 연구의 흐름을 개괄하고 주요 쟁점을 정 리하였다. 일원상 연구의 발전과정은 크게 세 시기로 구분할 수 있다. 첫째, 일원상 교리 성립기(1916-1947)다. 1916년 소태산의 대각 이후 불법연구회에서 발표된 제자들의 ‘일원상의 진리’에 관한 해석학적 글들을 유형화하여 교리화의 관계성 을 살펴보았다. 둘째, 학문적 개념형성과 정착기(1948-1989)다. 이 시기에는 본격적인 일원상 교리에 대한 연구가 진행되었다. 1948년부터 일원상 연구의 결집서인 『일원상진리의 제연구』(1989)가 발간되기까지 발표된 글들을 분석했 다. 셋째, 해석학적 쟁점기(1990년 이후)다. 이 시기에는 ‘일원상의 진리’ 해석에 관한 논쟁, ‘본원과 현상’ 또는 ‘일원과 사은’의 관계에 대한 논의가 활발하게 전개되었다. 종합적 검토의 결과, ‘일원상의 진리’ 연구는 인류문명의 문제들과 적극적으로 대면해야 하고, 진리관과 현실이 만남으로써 새로운 논의의 지평 을 열어야 할 과제를 안고 있다.
This study comprehensively reviewed the research on the truth of Il-Won-Sang and presented new tasks in the academia of Won-Buddhism. Sotaesan, the founding master of Won-Buddhism, symbolized the truth that he attained the great enlightenment. Core doctrine on the truth of Il-Won-Sang was almost completed when Sotaesan was alive. Since then, the truth of Il-Won-Sang has been a central theme in the academia of Won-Buddhism. In addition, an hermeneutical debate on the truth of Il-Won-Sang was conducted. Therefore, this study analyzed academic research inside and outside Won-Buddhism academia on the theme of the truth of Il-Won-Sang , and summarized its research flow. The development process of Il-Won-Sang research can be divided into three periods. The first is when the doctrine of Il-Won-Sang was established(1916-1947). In this study, the article on 'the truth of Il-Won- Sang published by Buddhadharma Research Society was categorized from an hermetic perspective. The second is the academic concept formation and settlement period(1948-1989). This period was a process of establishing an academic system on Il-Won-Sang doctrine. The third is the period of formation of issues in Il-Won-Sang research(1990-2022). I analyzed the debate on the interpretation of 'the truth of Il-Won-Sang' and the relationship between 'the original source of all things and its phenomenon' or 'the Il- Won and the Fourfold Grace'. Finally, based on this comprehensive review, I proposed what new tasks are in the study of the truth of Won-Buddhism. In conclusion, 'the truth of Il-Won-Sang' research should actively face the problems of human civilization, and the horizon of a new discussion should be opened by meeting the view of truth and reality.
