Abstract中古中國流行的月光童子出世為圣君的觀念是在借鑒了譯經中的未來佛彌勒形象后,通過中國本土偽撰的佛典塑造出來的。根據這些偽撰佛典的敘述,月光童子將在釋迦佛入滅后下生人間作轉輪圣君。因此中古時期的統治者經常以月光童子自居,以此來說明自身政權的合法性。另外,月光童子信仰得以產生并被世人所接受與當時社會上流行的"末法"和"無佛"思想有很大關系。
