AbstractA Gandharan stucco figurine in the Civico Museo Archeologico in Milan, probably originating from Hadda, depicts a bhikṣuṇī. Cautiously dated around the second century AD or,
more likely, later, this piece constitutes a rare iconographic testimony to the presence of female Buddhist monastics in Gandhāra.
