Abstract道綽在戰爭、亡國、滅佛的情況下四處流浪,體驗著人生的苦惱,因而心中蘊藏著末法時代的罪惡生死的人間觀。他十四歲出家時,是北齊的最后一年(建德六年,577);來年,北周滅北齊,周武帝對北齊實施排佛政策,使得北齊境內的寺塔、佛像全毀,僧尼還俗達三百余萬,迫使北方佛教徒大批南遷,北方佛教的元氣因之而折損泰半。北朝的滅佛事件,引發道綽生起強烈的末法思想,他引用《大集月藏經》提出末法時期的眾生,應該修持彌陀凈土法門方能得救,并且將末法觀念結合懺悔思想而創立凈土門。他又在末法觀念的闡述中,結合“稱名念佛”的修持方式,以教化下層社會的苦難大眾。從中得以窺見中國早期凈土門的創立與普羅大眾的信仰生活與實踐修持,并引申凈土門的社會意義。
