Abstract在河西走廊西端石窟中發現有 6 幅《唐僧取經圖》,分別見於榆林窟第 2 窟、第 3 窟、東千佛洞第 2 窟和文殊山古佛洞,長期被公認為西夏遺物,其實這些石窟都營建於元代晚期。六幅取經圖中的孫悟空皆為猴王形象,與宋、金、西夏時代的“白衣秀才”形象迥然不同,卻契合元雜劇中手持生金棍的猴子形象。在宋金《唐僧取經圖》中,孫悟空只是唐僧的配角,可有可無;元雜劇中的孫悟空成為必不可少的關鍵人物,與唐僧、白馬構成較固定的搭配;明小說中的孫悟空成為絕對的主角,與唐僧、豬八戒、沙僧和白馬構成固定的搭配。由元雜劇、繪畫、雕塑與壁畫的高度一致性可證敦煌的《唐僧取經圖》皆為元代之物,與西夏沒有多少干係。
