Abstract本文以大乘法身為切入點,探討東晉末南北朝時期涅槃學與般若、法華思想交涉的一個面向。南北朝時期,「涅槃」學取代「般若」學成為中國佛教義學之主流,檢視現有文獻,在四世紀末五世紀初的東晉末期「涅槃」議題就已經被討論,其中大乘禪法在法身的開展是一重要關鍵。法身議題引發對佛性有無的爭論,而大乘涅槃中的佛性本有思想亦為解決法身問題提供一個思考的進路。大乘涅槃發展初期,雖因中國佛教對般若認知的差異而引起質疑,但隨著龍樹中觀大乘的發展,涅槃學以實相般若開展「中道」佛性,並進一步會通法華的「開佛知見」,終於在南北朝時期大放異彩,晉身中國佛教義學主流之列,亦為大乘禪法奠定深厚的基礎。其次,北魏後期佛教造像中,獨立的涅槃題材逐漸被凸顯,反映涅槃學趨向成熟的發展;涅槃像與法華中代表法身的釋迦、多寶並坐像同時出現,也印證法華與涅槃的密切關連,這些都須建立在以般若為基礎的大乘涅槃之上。大乘涅槃以般若為宗體,結合法華內涵,以法身不生不滅開展出實相涅槃,不僅奠定南北朝涅槃義學的基礎,對大乘法身的發展更是強而有力的推手。
