AbstractThis research aims at utilizing the Buddhist cultural heritages through developing them as digital contents. Electronic Buddhist Text Institute has interested in constructing Buddhist cultural contents for long time. One of the outcomes could be Dongguk Cyber Museum serviced from the year 2001.
The study deals with constructing the digital contents of bodhisattva's ornaments. In Korean, there are numerous statues and paintings of Avalokite?vara which have been known artistically and culturally as world-class cultural treasures. The Avalokite?vara statues in the Seoggul-am cave temple and the Avalokite?vara paintings in the Koryo dynasty could be one of the examples. We carefully choose eighteen statues and nine paintings from their artistic and stylistic features. Apart from them, we are planing to construct the digital contents of the ornaments seen in the various bodhisattva statues choosing from their artistic, cultural values as well as their industry oriented practical values. From the planing of this digital contents, what we have in mind is its utilizations in the wide variety of industries as well as in the area of the cultural art and education. The outcome of this project could be the digitalized contents of the 2D or 3D bodhisattva's ornaments which will show the excellency in the Korean Culture and will be used for various industries.
