| Abstract | 《世說新語》產生的南朝劉宋時期,正是佛教從邊緣文化上升為主流文化的時候。其編纂者們大多崇信佛教,其所述人物,多與佛教關系密切,甚或直接為佛教僧侶。這些富有個性化的崇佛士人和佛教僧人的群像,藝術地再現了佛教在東晉時期的活動狀況,對后來《僧傳》的撰寫,尤其是僧人形象的生動描繪,產生了一定的影響。
Shis shuo Xin YU(New Stories Retold) was compiled in LIU Song Dynasty in the South Dynasties when Buddhism was rising up from the border culture to the mainstream culture.Most authors believed in Buddhism,and the characters they created had close relationships with Buddhism or were even Buddhist monks.The group images and activities of the scholars who worshiped Buddhism and Buddhist monks artistically reflected the movement and development of Buddhism in the Eastern Jin Dynasty,exerting some influence on Biography of Monks which waswritten later, especially on the vivid descriptions of the monks′ pictures.
