Abstract敦煌寺院不是隱身山林的修道院,而是積極參與公共事務,融入社會群眾的宗教性開放空間,具有明顯的人間性與世俗性。(羅彤華語)本文擬以敦煌凈土寺為中心探討其與當時社會不同階層、不同民族人群的方方面面的往來關系,這對于我們了解凈土寺在晚唐五代宋初敦煌地區的活動情況是有益的,為我們對敦煌地區其他寺院的研究做了鋪墊,也無疑會推動我們對佛教社會史研究的深入展開。 本文所考察的敦煌凈土寺時限為吐蕃統治后期至曹氏歸義軍時期,大體相當于晚唐五代宋初時期。分三個層面進行闡述,第一個層面著眼于佛教僧團的角度,通過分析歸義軍時期敦煌凈土寺與都司(包括所屬僧官)及諸寺(包括僧人)的經濟交往,從而揭示了歸義軍時期敦煌佛教僧團是個整體,凈土寺與都司及諸寺的經濟往來頻繁,但在形式上除借貸關系以外,多限于在經濟上對僧團承擔的義務及各寺間禮儀性的經濟往來,而純粹的商品買賣交往并不多見。 第二個層面立足于世俗政權的角度,從經濟支出、宗教外交、公共勞務、儒家教育...
