Abstract本論文的題目是:原始佛教戒學之初探-以「小小戒可捨」為中心。在原始佛教時期,戒學並不是一種學說,而是修行實證真理的方法。實踐佛法以斷盡漏惑,得涅槃解脫境為目標。斷盡諸漏惑是智慧為關鍵,即沒有智慧就無法得到究竟解脫。可是,智慧的發展必須奠基於定力,在心動意亂之下,智慧就無法增長。然,所有定、慧的增長,必須從戒學做起,不可能離開戒學而有定、慧,乃至解脫可言,這可說是原始佛教修證佛法的一套理論。這樣說來,欲於佛法修行有所成就,戒、定、慧三學一定不得缺少任何者。此意佛陀亦曾跟諸比丘肯定過,他一再囑咐弟子們,要離欲、斷諸漏惑,要守護六根,即要習於戒也。修行的意志不夠強者,要藉由戒學來調伏自己,令諸根清淨,是故藉由戒學成就,導致定慧開發地。所以說戒學於修證佛法,有其必要性。可是,佛入滅之前又施設了「聽諸比丘捨小小戒」的遺命。此與佛一生的教法是否有自相矛盾之處?本論文的目的是於戒學作個整體的研考,然後以其來解讀「小小戒可捨」的問題。此目的具體化為三個主要問題等待解決。一者、戒含何意義?二者、佛陀制戒的目的,及以何原理原則來結戒。三者、以前兩者來考論「小小戒可捨」的問題。
