| Abstract | 關於釋迦牟尼佛喬答摩的傳記故事,國內已經有了多種,但我們多半見到的都是以漢文史料為來源的作品。這裡我們想介紹另外一類主要以南傳佛教史料為依據的作品。西方人研究佛教只有二百年左右的歷史,由於近代的世界資本主義和殖民主義發展史的特點,西方人最先注意到的還是南傳佛教。以李斯大衛夫婦為中堅的一大批學者,在上座部佛教的研究領域內辛苦地耕耘,他們在經典的整理和出版,在對西文世界介紹佛教方面,都做出了巨大的歷史貢獻。
