Abstract釋迦牟尼被人尊視，尊稱為佛，是他悟道和傳道的結果。但是“成佛”卻不是他出家求道的原因。相傳他是出於對人類遭受的種種困難之深切關懷，才决定出家求道来幫助人類。
我們在研究原始佛教的人生觀時，首先需要了解释迦牟尼這一類人出家的原因，不是什麼“看破红尘”，“悲觀厭世”，“遁入空門”，“拋妻棄子”之類；而是出於對人類苦難的關懷，為了求知求道，在當時的社會條件下，作出的道路選擇。
