Abstract三論宗,顧名思義,以三論,即中論、百論和十二門論而得名。可見三論宗是以弘揚三論,也就是弘揚龍樹系大乘中觀佛學而著稱的。按照一般的說法,三論宗的傳法世系是:龍樹(提婆)——羅什——僧肇(或道生)——曇濟——僧朗——僧詮——法朗——吉藏。其實真正的創宗人則是吉藏。龍樹提婆著有三論,是印度大乘中觀佛學的重要代表人物。他們的思想與中國三論宗佛學有著很密切的淵源關系,但他們並不是中國三論宗的開創人。羅什與其弟子僧肇,皆對中士弘揚龍樹系大乘中觀佛學起過重要的作用,但也不能說他們已是三論宗人。至於道生,雖說他曾師事羅什,精研過般若三論,但他最后轉入了涅槃學,成為我國南朝時的涅檠學重要代表人物,因此他與后來的三論宗並無多大關系。再如曇濟、僧朗、僧詮、法朗等人,其中與三論有著關系較密者當推僧朗。自羅什、僧肇大力弘揚三論以后,關中曆經變亂,又經魏太武帝毀法,三論絕唱。直至齊梁之際,此學才復興于攝山。僧朗重振三論,於時茲風復闡。繼之者則有僧詮與法朗。法朗即是吉藏的老師。著名的興皇寺法朗,曾從攝山僧詮師受四論及《華嚴》、《大品》等經。其佛學思想法朗亦重龍樹中觀學。
