Abstract本書は昭和61年秋、東京大学に提出した学位論文「『順正理論』における上座の研究」に、多少の改訂を施して出版したものである。『順正理論』にしばしばその主張が引用された破拆される上座とは、玄奘三蔵のインドからもたらした伝承によると、経量部の論師シュリーラータであるという。そしてこのことは、『倶舎論』の諸註釈書の記述からも確認できる。
