AbstractThis thesis concerns the ideology of Thai Theravada and the teaching of Mahayana. Buddhadasa was a Theravada monk. He emphasized on the development of Buddhism. Moreover, Buddhadasa adopted the teaching of Mahayana particularly, the ideology of Chan School to Thai Theravada. That is a new reformation of Buddhism in Thailand. Therefore, the research of this thesis presents the influence of Mahayana on Buddhadasa’s thought. Buddhadasa adopted the idea of one mind from The teaching of Huang-Po, the idea of original mind from Platform Sutra, and the teaching of emptiness. In Thai Theravada there is no interpretation of the teaching of emptiness. But Buddhasada adopted it into Thai Theravada. (Therefore this thesis will be good for research the development of Thai Theravada in the future). Subsequently, this thesis will let us understand how Mahayana is combined with Thai Theravada.
