AbstractThe concept of the"innate purity of the mind" (cittaprakrtiprabhasvara) is a very important notion in the Mahayana Buddhism and has a great influence on the Chinese Buddhism. It is often used synonymously with "tathagatagarbha" in many Mahayana texts.

「自性清淨心」為大乘佛典中重要的思想觀念之一,在如來藏系的經典中常被視為是如來藏的同義語,而其思想淵源可追溯至阿含經與尼科耶中。為何在這些強調無常、苦、無我思想的初期經典中,出現此一似乎帶有常我思想的觀念,是一頗為值得玩味的問題。本論文之研究目的即在探討「自性清淨心」於阿含經與尼科耶中的真正意涵。「自性清淨心」在這些初期的佛典中是以「心性本淨,為客塵所染」的敘述方式被呈現出來,而其源頭可見於巴利經典中的增支部,但是,在增支部的原文中並未出現心性的「性」字,本論文的第一部分是分析整理此一觀念在增支部中的原文及其在該部典籍框架中所具之意涵。論文的第二部分是就相應部和中部裡有關去除心垢的經文,整理出客塵煩惱的內容和種類,並從其所使用的譬喻與增支部中的「心性本淨」說交相對照,深化且證成「心性本淨」說在初期的佛典中被提出的用意與目的。由於阿毘達磨的論師們對於「心性本淨」說在阿含經中的意涵有諸多的爭論,論文的第三部份,是藉由三部現存的有部論書針對此一觀念所作的論辯,進一步釐清心性是本淨以及自性清淨心與客塵煩惱之間的關係等問題。在結論中,除重申論文中研究分析所得出之「心性本淨」說在阿含經中的意涵外,並分辨「自性清淨心」在阿含經與如來藏系的經典中的差異性。
