Abstract世親所造的《唯識三十頌》自古即有多人闡述,其中對後代的唯識學影響最大者,莫過於安慧與護法. 護法學說承玄奘發揚興於中國,安慧學說則盛於西藏; 而安慧的見解似乎更接近世親原意.

護法認為世親造頌動機在答覆外難問題; 主張種子新舊合成說與心四分說:認為識的「轉變」起於同一剎那,根據《解深密經》解釋阿賴耶識之所緣. 安慧則認為造頌動機在發自內心的菩薩本願,為欲一切眾生解脫而得一切智; 主張心一分說:認為識的「轉變」是繼續於前後剎那; 主根據是《瑜伽論》.

若是比較藏傳安慧的《唯識三十頌釋》,和漢傳護法的《成唯識論》和真諦的《轉識論》. 可以發覺:若以護法的唯識學為唯一. 恐會忽略很多問題.
