Abstract有部認為,發生萬有之因,是從有情本身的「業」而來. 據俱舍論看,「業」是以「思」的心所及其外表的發動為體,前者為「思業」後者為「思已業」,意業是思業,語意是思已業. 身語二業又各分為「表業」「無表業」,說一切有部認為「無表業」附帶於物質,其本身無思慮性,無分別性,所以「無表色」是色法. 據俱舍論看,分別諸法善不善的依據,為勝義,自性,相應,等起. 有部認為「等起」有二種,即「因等起」與「剎那等起」. 決定「表業」善惡的根據,在「因等起」. 「說一切有部」對「業」本體的看法,是現實性,道德性,具體性的,所以有部把「業」的本體看作是色法,而由「等起」的思想導出善惡業報,在造業時依因感果,則「無表業」可能持續到後世而招苦樂果報.
