Abstract | 圭峰宗密 (740 ~ 841) 位尊華嚴五祖,然其於禪宗禪法 之修持及文獻之整理,厥為唐代第一之人物. 法脈承自荷澤 而立為正宗,貶抑批評馬祖之江西洪州系等荷澤以外的禪法. 而裴休為宗密摯友卻於晚年歸心於洪州百丈下的黃蘗希運. 這轉變由裴休集序的《傳心法要》及《宛陵錄》為明證, 正顯示洪州禪不可抑遏的發展及荷澤系的沒落. 本文立足於 冉雲華教授《宗密》及鎌田茂雄教授《宗密教學の思想史的 研究》二書的宗密研究上,透過裴休的《傳心法要序》來探 討黃蘗禪法的歷史意義. 黃蘗的研究中,日本入矢義高和柳 田聖山是近來的代表,但他們的成果相當有限,不僅只停 留在譯註和歷史文獻的範圍,且像柳田先生竟不知崇寧藏 是最先收錄《傳心法要》及《宛陵錄》的藏經,本文依據蔡 運辰先生的《二十五種藏經目錄對照考釋》,得以正此謬誤, 也因此而重新考察《傳心法要》的成立史及其可靠性與意義. 黃蘗的相關資料相當多,本文的探討,只是做點鋪路的工作 而已,期望能拋磚引玉,將來有更完整的黃蘗研究出現.
Tsung-mi (Kuei-feng,740-841),the fifth Patriarch of Hua-yen school,is the most important figure in T'ang dynasty for his self-cultivation within Ch'an and his work of documentary arrangement. His robe comes from Shen-hui (670-762), so that he belittles another faction--Hung-chou which robe does not come from Shen-hui. While P'ei-shiou,who is Tsung-mi's best friend,converts in his old age to Huang-po's Ch'an which belongs to Hung-chou's faction. Why did P'ei-Hsiu make this conversion? His editions of The Zen Teaching of Huang on the transmission of mind and Discourses of Warn-Ling give us the answer:Hung-chou's faction prevails for a time and Shen-hui's is on the wane.
Based on Jan,Yung-Hua's Tsung-mi and Kamate Sige's Study on the History of Thought of Tsung-mi's Teaching,my article will seek the historical meaning of Huang-po's Ch'an through Pei-shiou's preface of above editions. There are two Japanese scholars (Iriya Yositaka and Yanagida Seizan),whose achievements stand for the recent study of Huang-po. But they are limited in the domain of translation, annotation of text and philology. For example, Yanagida even ignores the fact that the above edition is collected initially in Chorng-Ning-Tzang. Here I proofread and correct the "The Zen Teaching of Huang Po on the transmission of mind." According to Tsay Yunn-Chern's The Parallel Study on the Bibliographies of Twenty Five Pitakas, and reconsider its history of text-formation,find out the fact and meaning. I hope that my article will show the correct way of study of Huang-po's Ch'an. |
