Abstract第一節 三乘的施設
依於學習對象的根器與需求,佛陀所開出來的解脫之道,一般來說,分成三大型態,就是所謂的「三乘」。「世尊釋迦牟尼如來,於此娑婆世界,為諸眾生說三乘法。何等為三?所謂聲聞乘、緣覺乘、大乘,是名三乘。」「求聲聞者,授聲聞乘;求緣覺者,授緣覺乘;求大乘者,授以大乘。」三乘的安立,因此得了初步的確定。
那麼,三乘各以何種法要以及取證何種果位而得成立?《妙法蓮華經》上,有相當扼要的說明:
「為求聲聞者,說應四諦法,度生老病死,究竟涅槃;為求辟支佛者,說應十二因緣法;為諸菩薩,說應六波羅蜜,令得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提,成一切種智。」(註3)聲聞乘,從「解四聖諦:苦、集、滅、道」來著手,「慇懃精進,欲速出三界,自求涅槃」,最後,取證阿羅漢的果位。獨覺乘(pratyeka-buddha-yana 緣覺乘、辟支佛乘)常樂獨處閒靜,諦觀十二因緣,由於「善知緣起得解脫」,取證獨覺(pratyeka-buddha緣覺、辟支佛)的果位。大乘,即菩薩摩訶薩所乘之道,「諸菩薩摩訶薩大乘者,謂六波羅蜜多,即是布施、淨戒、安忍、精進、靜慮、般若波羅蜜多」,圓滿這六個波羅蜜多,就證得無上正等菩提,成就佛陀的果位。
