心經，即《般若波羅蜜多心經》的簡稱，屬般若經的一種. 而般若經之種類及翻譯俱多，比較詳備者，首推六百卷之多的唐譯大般若經. 惟數量多，閱讀和研究均非短時間所能竟功，只有這部唐譯心經，以其文簡義周，而易於讀誦. 般若即智慧，分為世間法與出世間法，無論大乘. 小乘都離不開它; 而智慧之用，又端賴此心. 是心經乃總攝大般若的精華，將整個佛法大義包含於260字的經文中.
