AbstractThis paper attempts to present a satisfactory analysis of the Buddhist theory of action in contrast to the non-Buddhist,and bring out the rationale and implications of the former. The paper has four sections. The first outlines the differences between the Buddhist and the non-Buddhist theory of action. The second and the third articulate respectively features of the non-Buddhist and the Buddhist perspectives and spell out their rationales. In the last, the richness and profundity of the Buddhist approach is brought out by highlighting prominent implications of it.
