Abstract | This book is a scholarly description Buddhist theories of causation,plus pre-Buddhist Vedic and non-Vedic theories. Cognate theories are discussed such as Buddhist Ahbidharma "psychology," dharma, ontology,Madhyamika, Sarvastivada, Sautrantika and (some) Yogacara. Dr. Kalapuhana's sources are the Pali cannon,Sanskrit and Prakrit materials and the Chinese Taisho; the Tibetan sources are omitted. Modern buddhological studies are discussed at length. |
